Arrival in Tokyo

Upon your arrival at Tokyo Airport, you complete the entry formalities on the territory and collect your luggage. This first step marks the beginning of your trip to Japon, in a metropolis that blends urban life, contemporary culture and historical heritage.

After your transfer by public transport and check-in at your accommodation, the rest of the day will be free to allow you to familiarize yourself with your new environment. You can take time to rest from your flight or start exploring the Tokyo megalopolis at your own pace.

Tokyo, a country in its own right

The guided day begins with a visit to Hama-rikyū Gardens, one of the preserved gardens from the Edo period, whose landscape contrasts with the surrounding modern buildings.

You continue with a stop at Tsukiji, the former fish market of the capital, long linked to local economic activity. On site, you enjoy a sushi lunch, a specialty associated with the district, before continuing to the EdoMuseum, which sheds light on the city's evolution through the centuries.

After the visit, you head to the traditional district of Asakusa, where the Senso-ji temple dedicated to the goddess Kannon is located, situated at the end of the shopping street Nakamise-dori.

The day ends at the observation deck of Shibuya Scramble Square, from where you observe the urban expanse of Tokyo.

Tokyo, a Capital for All Generations

Free morning in Tokyo to discover its iconic neighborhoods, by day and in the evening: Akihabara, the electric town for tech enthusiasts, Ginza, Tokyo's chic neighborhood!, Shinjuku, Ikebukuro and Shibuya. You can tailor this discovery to your preferences, between urban walks, museum visits, breaks in the parks, themed cafés or culinary experiences, depending on your interests.

In the afternoon, you head to the artificial island of Odaiba, an artificial island known for its leisure spaces. You discover the teamLab Borderless exhibition at the Mori Building Digital Art Museum, where digital artworks are projected in a vast immersive space.

As you stroll through the neighborhood, you can observe a replica of a Gundam, a giant 20-meter-high robot, which illustrates the place of Japanese popular culture and animation.

It is also possible to end the day with an experience of Japanese hot springs in a setting inspired by feudal Japan and summer festivals at the Oedo Onsen Monogatari (access restricted for tattooed persons).

Tokyo on your own or Kamakura, the former shogunal capital

Free day to continue discovering Tokyo or treat yourself to a zen escape in the surrounding areas.

Not far away, approximately 45 minutes from the capital, stands Kamakura, a pleasant coastal town very popular with Tokyo residents seeking nature and tranquility, which became in the 12th century the first shogunal capital, for more than a century.

Among its many temples and shrines, we recommend visiting the important Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine dedicated to the war deity, Hachiman, then the Kencho-ji Temple, the oldest of Kamakura's zen temples whose discovery will take you back in time.

After a visit to the village and a train ride along the sea, you can then access the Hase Temple, dedicated to the goddess Kannon, which offers a magnificent view of the bay of Kamakura.

Finally, the Kotoku-in Temple, a must-see of the destination, housing a bronze statue over 11 meters high: its great Amitabha Buddha.

Tokyo in freedom or Nikko, a natural and spiritual getaway

For this last day in Tokyo, you can continue discovering the districts and sites of the capital or consider an excursion to Nikko, located approximately two hours away.

There you will discover in particular the Rinno Temple as well as the Toshogu Shrine, mausoleum of Tokugawa Ieyasu, a figure associated with the unification and pacification of Japon. These sites are part of the UNESCO World Heritage properties.

Nearby, you can also see the Shinkyo Bridge, a vermillion red bridge that spans the river, as well as the Tamozawa Imperial Villa, a former imperial summer residence with 106 rooms.

Hakone, nature getaway at Mount Fuji

Baggage transfer: In the morning, your luggage is transferred by private carrier to Kyoto. It is advisable to keep with you a backpack containing toiletries and a change of clothes for two days.

You then head to the Hakone region in the company of an English-speaking assistant. Located near Mount Fuji and known for its natural hot springs, this stage allows you to relax and enjoy Japanese landscapes.

After the cable car ascent to the famous fumaroles of Owakudani station, Hakone, you will enjoy lunch on site.

The day continues with the crossing of Lake Ashi by boat offering breathtaking views of Mount Fuji and a visit to the Hakone Shrine, with its beautiful vermillion torii in the water.

The evening allows you to settle into a ryokan, traditional Japanese inn, and discover the onsen, hot springs associated with the accommodation. Dinner takes the form of a kaiseki, a seasonal meal composed of several dishes. You also experience traditional sleeping, with futons laid out on tatami mats.

Kyoto, guardian of thousand-year-old traditions

Hakone → Kyoto

Departure for a major stage of your stay in Japan: Kyoto, former imperial city. Upon arrival, you are welcomed by your guide-escort specialist in the region, who accompanies you for the rest of the day.

Kyoto is home to numerous cultural and religious buildings that contribute to its reputation. This guided day with a local assistant begins with visits to major sites, including Ryoan-ji, known for its dry garden associated with zen culture, as well as The Golden Pavilion Kinkaku.

After lunch at a local restaurant, you continue with the discovery of Nijō Castle, whose architecture bears witness to its role as a fortified residence of the heirs of shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu during their stays in Kyoto.

The day concludes in the east of the city, at the The Silver Pavilion (Ginkaku Temple, also called the Silver Pavilion.

Kyoto at your own pace: Nara and its treasures

Free day to stroll through the districts of Kyoto or to plan an excursion to Nara, often chosen for a day of discovery. Former capital of the archipelago in the 8th century, the city preserves several monuments inscribed in world heritage.

You can visit Tōdai Temple, located in a park where many deer roam freely, then the Kasuga Taisha Nara, a shrine known for its lanterns lined along the paths and buildings.

On the way back, you can stop at Fushimi Inari Shrine, dedicated to the fox deity. The site is crossed by alleys of vermillion torii gates that extend up the mountain slopes and mark the landscape of the place.

From Arashiyama to Glittering Osaka

For this last free day in Kyoto, you can head west of the city, to the district of Mount Arashiyama, appreciated since the Heian period by the imperial court. The site is notably known for its bamboo forest, whose tree-lined paths with tall trunks create a special atmosphere.

Nearby, the shops and stalls on the main street accompany the walk towards the Togetsukyo Bridge, which spans the Hozu River. Along the way, you can visit the Tenryu-ji, whose landscape garden is designed to promote tranquility, with the hills in the background integrated into the composition.

In the afternoon, you can also choose to go to The city of Osaka, a major city in the Kansai region. You can see its Osaka Castle, recognizable by its golden elements, then discover in the evening the liveliness of its districts around the canal, notablyThe Namba district and Dotonbori street, known for their nightlife and neon signs.

Registration is considered firm and final after payment of a deposit of 30% of the total price and acceptance of the specific terms of sale.

The balance must be paid no later than 45 days before the departure date.

To enter Japan, your passport must be valid for the entire duration of your planned stay and must contain at least one blank page for immigration stamps.

Entry requirements without a visa depend on your nationality. You must verify the conditions and the duration of stay authorized with the Japanese embassy or consulate of your country of residence.

The authorities may also ask for:

  • a return ticket or onward travel proof (return flight or continuation),

  • proof of sufficient financial resources for the duration of your stay,

  • an accommodation address in Japan for the duration of your trip.

Visit Japan Web

Japanese authorities offer the online service Visit Japan Web, which allows you to register in advance certain information required for entry into the territory and to facilitate procedures upon arrival.

This service allows you to enter:

  • passport information

  • flight and stay details

  • Japanese customs declaration

The use of this service is optional but recommended, as it allows you to speed up passage through controls upon arrival. A QR code is generated at the end of registration and can be presented to the competent authorities.

Health

Verify vaccination requirements with the Japanese embassy or consulate of your country of residence. It is advisable to ensure that routine vaccinations recommended in your country of residence are up to date.
Be sure to purchase travel insurance covering medical expenses, as these can be substantial in Japan.

Travel with children

Minors must have their own valid passport covering the duration of the stay.

In some cases, when a minor travels without one of their parents, an authorization to exit the territory may be required according to the regulations of your country of residence. Check with your country's authorities.
