Highlights
Day-by-day itinerary

Yokoso! Welcome to Japan!
We land in Tokyo, go through customs and collect our luggage. An English-speaking assistant is there to welcome us and together we take public transport and then a taxi to our hotel. During this journey of approximately 1 hour, they provide us with the documents and essential information for the smooth running of our trip.
Along the way, Tokyo reveals itself to us in all its finest attractions. It is the largest megalopolis in the world with more than 42 million inhabitants scattered throughout its urban areas. As a prefecture and capital of Japon, it has plenty to amaze with its limitless vision.
In the heart of a titanic urban complex, we discover its different Tokyo's neighborhoods with their unique traits and atmosphere.

Tokyo, Japan's Titan
We begin our first adventure in the land of Japon with an excursion to the heart of the monumental Tokyo. This megapolis immerses us in its urban atmosphere from the morning with its extraordinary public transportation network. Visiting it without a ride in one of its subways would be a real shame!
We then take the Yamanote circular line. This journey allows us to catch a glimpse of huge glass buildings and steel structures. It also allows us to admire all of its most popular neighborhoods including Shinjuku the famous skyscraper district, Shibuya with its celebrated crossing, fashion shops and nightlife, or even Akihabara with its electronic and manga world.
At the end of the day, we head towards the artificial island of Odaiba to enjoy its many attractions. We can admire the beauty of Tokyo under the veil of night with its sparkling lights in the distance.
Finally, a traditional local restaurant is a must to taste the authentic sushi of Japon!

Kamakura, the Heart of the Former Shogunate
Today, we set aside Tokyo with its neighborhoods, its alleys and its amazing urban sites and head for a zen break in a calm place: Kamakura.
We make our way to this coastal town located approximately 45 minutes from the capital to enjoy its nature and peaceful atmosphere. It was the capital of the shogunate for approximately a century.
You will find interesting Buddhist temples including Hase Temple of the Jodo school; that of Kotoku-in with its great bronze Amitabha Buddha built in 1242, and the Tsurugaoka Hachiman-gu shrine.

Hakone, closest to Mount Fuji
Today, we are definitively leaving Tokyo and its hustle and bustle to take the mountain road.
After 1 hour 30 minutes of travel, we arrive in the Hakone region, which attracts many tourists with its tranquility and fresh air. They come here for its proximity to the Mount Fuji and for its array of natural hot springs. It is a place where relaxation and contemplation are paramount. We take advantage of its hot springs while enjoying its typically Japanese landscapes.
We then take a cable car that takes us to the fumaroles of the volcanic valley of Owakudani station, Hakone. Perched so high, we have an incredible view of the volcano.
We continue with a boat trip on Lake Ashi which offers a sublime view of Mount Fuji on clear days.
We conclude this highland getaway in a Ryokan, traditional Japanese inns (traditional Japanese inn). We take advantage of its onsen, Japanese hot springs or hot springs. Then we enjoy a seasonal dinner, kaiseki. In a traditional spirit, we spend the night Japanese-style: on futons placed on tatamis.

Kyoto, at the heart of traditions
Early in the morning, we take a local train and then the Shinkansen for a 2-hour journey that takes us to one of the most iconic cities in Japon : Kyoto.
On site, we familiarize ourselves with this former imperial capital and set out to discover the sites that marked the city's history, including: The Kiyomizu Temple, the pure water temple perched on the hillside, the Higashiyama district and its shops, and the traditional streets of Gion. We then head to the Fushimi Inari Shrine to see its thousands of torii (gates) in red forming a marked path through the mountain.
In the evening, we head over to the Pontocho Street in Kyoto to find a good traditional restaurant. Along the way, we enjoy the view of the Kamo River. With a bit of luck, we might come across maikos, apprentice geishas.

Kyoto, Between Temples and Gardens
The thousand-year-old city of Kyoto is full of important buildings and cultural sites. One of the distinctive features of this city remains its 2000 shrines and temples.
This stay will not allow us to see them all. Nevertheless, we will be able to visit the most remarkable ones, including the Golden Pavilion Kinkaku, the garden of the Ryoan-ji temple and the Silver Pavilion (Ginkaku Temple.
To occupy our free time, it is possible for us to rent bicycles to follow the banks of the Kamo river (only if weather permits). Otherwise, we can go hiking towards the summit of the Mount Hiei or that of Mount Arashiyama with its bamboo grove.
In the evening, shabu-shabu is highly recommended for dinner! This specialty is a real treat for the taste buds. It is a Japanese fondue where you dip thin slices of meat into various vegetable broths.

The Jewels of Nara
Today: a relaxing day in Nara. This city located 40 minutes from Kyoto was one of the first Japanese capitals in the 8th century.
Several monuments listed as UNESCO World Heritage sites can be found there. On site, we stop by the impressive Tōdai Temple. It stands in a park populated by several captive deer.
We can then consider a stop at the typical Japanese garden of Isuien or at the shrine-mausoleum of the powerful Fujiwara family, the Kasuga Taisha Nara.

Okinawa, Bathing Suit Japon
This morning we board an express train heading to the airport inOsaka City (approximately 1.5 hours travel time).
We then take our flight to the island ofOkinawa honto, the most tropical of Japon's lands (approximately 2 hours of flight).
Upon landing, we head to our hotel located beachside. The view of the sea from our room is sublime. Without delay, we dive into the water and enjoy this relaxed atmosphere.
A rental car is at our disposal and allows us to explore every corner of this Pacific island. In particular, we will take walks around its most remarkable sites: its beaches, its surprising Churaumi Aquarium, the Shuri Castle, its string of islets and its reconstructions of traditional villages.

Exploration and relaxation in Okinawa
We have 3 full days to deepen our discovery of Okinawa honto or enjoy the idyllic setting to relax.
With our car at our disposal, we can notably take a tour of the capital Naha, stroll along its main street Kokusai-doori and take the opportunity to combine shopping and culinary pleasures.
We also have the possibility to discover its most beautiful beaches: some made for lounging in the sun, others designed for water activities (snorkeling, diving, etc.).
Furthermore, a boat excursion can take us to the small islands of Zamami, Kume and Tokashiki. Little contaminated by the modern world, these islets stand out for the beauty of their nature. All around us, an emerald sea, a tropical setting, fine sandy beaches, coral reefs and a fleet of multicolored fish enchant us.

Have a good trip!
It is time today to leave the idyllic setting of Okinawa and board a domestic flight to The city of Osaka for our return international flight.
